Is 8 to 10% enought for 2008??

Was thinking, considering that this is a not-so-good year for stocks, would it be better to settle for a target of 10% profits instead of 15%? And to try to get out of the remaining stocks with minimal losses to wait for a better opportunity.

Did a quick contra with Ausgroup, bringing total profits to about 8.28%.

Remaining portfolio looks pretty red now, esp the S-Shares sector. Not much choice but to hold and wait it out.

Oil prices have taken a breather from a high of US$135.

Ausgroup has weakened from a high of $0.94. Sold Ausgroup @ $0.93 before lunch.

That brings total profits to about 7.94%.

Current profits to about 6.89%, still about 8.11% away from the 15% target for 2008.

Assuming the target is reached before end of 2008.... I wonder what should my strategy be. Go into conservative mode and hold more cash? Buy in only when there is a significant drop? Or maybe stay 20% invested, 80% cash and wait?

Ausgroup has picked up, due to rising oil prices. It crossed the 0.90 mark quite convincingly yesterday to close at 0.94. The

Synear management announced that it's Chengdu operations are largely unaffected by the quake. Hope this helps to allay investor's fears.

Comfort DG is still doing badly, due to rising oil prices.

SinoTF seems to be holding fine, slightly in the black now.

China HX seems to have dropped slightly, no apparent reasons, possibly due to the Sichuan quake

Made about $340 from the sell in mkt (price difference) for Synear.
Will be collecting about $280 dividend for Synear.

That brings current profits to about 6.89%

Ausgroup seems to have picked up, due to rising oil prices.

Synear seems to have been sold down partly due to results, dividend and the earthquake in Sichuan.

Comfort DG seems to be doing badly, due to rising oil prices. Might have made a bad call in buying back this counter.

China HX & SinoTF seems to be holding fine, slightly in the red.

Over 80% Singapore Grand Prix Tickets Sold

Papers reported about 80% or 78720 of 96000 tickets sold. Another 4.5 months to the end Sep 08 event. Hope the sales are good, then I'll be able to sell off some of my tickets on hand. Currently holding on to:

General Walkabout Tickets x2

Did not manage to nibble anything today, which is fortunate as the counters I was looking at dropped another 4% to 8.5%. This week is a short trading week with a public holiday on Thurdsay (1 May) and the Feds will convene their meeting tonight. The market might drift down a little more tomorrow. Should pick up some then. Mkt ended with:

Hehehe, only 83 more days to the end of my bond, finally the number is down to 2 numbers, from the original 4 numbers. Feels good : )

I'm back and I'm turning this blog into a trade record

Back to blogging after a couple mths break. Going to turn this blog into my personal record for recording some of my thoughts on trades done on the stock market.

Closed my position for the week, took profits for the S-shares bought over the last 1 month. Now to wait patiently for the next correction. Sentiment on the global economy seems to be improving but there are is still bad news popping up once in a while.

Expecting dividend of about $130.

My target for 2008 will be:
Target: 15% realized profits, based on initial capital calculated at Jan 2008.
Stretch Tgt: 20% realized profits.

Currently about 4%.

Ok, here's one of the items on my wishlist, a PSP Slim & Lite playset. Kinda ex, a basic unit + crystal case + an original game + 4GB memory card costs btw $400 to $430. Got to break the piggie to pay for it : ( : (

I'm back after a long long long long break, and YES!!!!!! , finally managed to get my tickets for the Formulae 1 night race in Singapore, Sep 2008.

Got 2 x Walkabout & 6 x Bay Grandstand (Lower Tier) tics : )

All are 3 day passes. I wonder how the black market will develop for these tickets.... should be sold out within a few days of the launch. Should be selling some of my tickets. Anyone interested, drop me an email ya.
